Episode 4: The Choice
I looked at Wesley.
Really looked at him.
At the man who had shaped my world so carefully I almost forgot I had one before him.
“You told me tonight to smile and stay quiet,” I said.
He didn’t answer.
“You’ve been telling me that for forty years.”
His jaw tightened. “I gave you everything.”
I shook my head gently.
“No,” I said. “You gave me a smaller version of myself and asked me to be grateful.”
Silence.
The kind that doesn’t break—it reveals.
Then I looked down at the card in my hand.
The door is always open.
For the first time in decades… it felt true.
